Facing The Difficulties of Gender Imbalance
What has held back the real potential of businesses? Jennifer Berman of CNBC’s “Listing Impossible” says that gender imbalance has affected the effectiveness of companies by limiting diversity.
In an interview for Thrive Global, Jennifer Berman — an inspiring professional in real estate, a three-time cancer survivor, and a strong role model for women leaders — talks about facing the difficulties of gender imbalance in the business world.
“The most significant change that someone can make when taking on gender imbalance is to stand up to a situation instead of shying away from it.”
Ignoring the issue is just as bad as openly allowing it to happen. For Jennifer Berman, it’s a matter of taking an active role in making change possible.
She also says that companies should create cultures of diversity and put together teams of different walks of life. Diversity underscores the capability of making meaningful changes for the growth of an organization. Solid measures to prevailing problems are better formed when different perspectives are blended together.
Indeed, women CEOs are just as capable of leading an organization, considering the fact that some of the world’s successful businesses are led by women.
For Berman, society can only progress if individuals work with and support each other for a common goal. The beauty of the modern world is that it provides ample opportunities for collaboration and awareness. Indeed, when like-minded people come together, they initiate a discussion. Such an exchange will then snowball to a movement where people can succeed as a collective.
This, for sure, would require strong leadership traits which women are capable of possessing.
Jennifer Berman advises new and aspiring leaders in business to really get to know their teams from within in order to not only know how they feel working together but also to really get involved and create a meaningful bond with them.
Jennifer Berman certainly has had strange and difficult experiences in real estate to talk about the difficult trials of leading as a woman in business. But she even recounts the supportive people who have held her up throughout the years like Dean Poole, who helped her become the charismatic and influential public speaker she is today.
